Government appeals to fuel companies NOT to request CSR refunds

Following on from yesterday’s ‘shock news’ that the government could be forced to pay fuel companies €2.6 BILLION for levying “an illegal tax”, secretary general for fiscal affairs António Mendonça Mendes has appealed for time out. He says it “hasn’t crossed (his) mind” that companies could put in for such potentially ruinous refunds. For now, says negocios online (which broke the story) “fuel companies are silent” – with exception of Prio which has assured it will NOT be claiming any kind of refund.
