A centre for medically assisted reproduction treatments is due to open in the Algarve before the end of the year, announced the government.
The announcement was made by Deputy Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales, during a parliamentary hearing in response to PCP MP João Dias, who asked whether the existing centres in Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon would be extended to the Algarve.
Said Sales, “the opening of a new centre in the Algarve is being studied and could contribute to improve access (to fertility treatments) in the region.”
The secretary of state added that he has been in contact with the president of the Algarve University Hospital Centre (CHUA) and that a “team has already been put together”.
