Government absent from funeral of road maintenance worker

The funeral of road maintenance worker Nuno Santos, 43 – the man killed after being hit by the BMW car carrying minister Eduardo Cabrita from an official function last week (click here) – went ahead on Monday, with no-one representing the government in attendance. The Public Ministry has opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident,while Mr Cabrita’s ministry has issued two press releases, the second referring to the circumstances, stressing the car was circulating normally and that there were no signs to warn of work going ahead on the road surface.
