The internationally renowned Soweto Gospel Choir will be performing songs from their most recent album, Voices From Heaven, at the Auditório dos Oceanos, in Lisbon Casino, between September 12 and 24. Concerts will take place every evening, except Monday, at 10pm, with added matinée performances at 5pm over the weekends.
The Soweto Gospel Choir was formed to celebrate the unique and inspirational power of African Gospel music. The 26-strong choir, under the direction of David Mulovhedzi and Beverly Bryer, draws on the best talent from the many churches in and around Soweto. Wearing their traditional costumes, the choir create hypnotic, soulful rhythms in their songs, which tackle themes of love, marriage and ageing, as well as glorification of leaders and heroes.
