Cooling of global economy “threatens 30 billion euros worth of Portuguese exports”

Goods exports seen increasing 1.1% in 2023

Companies in Portugal expect to increase their exports of goods by 1.1% this year, compared to 2022, mainly thanks to increased sales to markets in the European Union, according to a survey released today by the National Statistics Institute (INE). “Companies expect a nominal increase of 1.1% in their exports of goods in 2023, compared to the previous year,” the INE report states, specifying that, “according to companies’ expectations, this increase is sustained by the forecast increase in exports to intra-EU markets (+1.7%), given that they foresee a decrease of 0.3% for extra-EU countries.”
