news: Good turnout for 20th Lisbon Marathon

The Resident’s Bob Hughes went along and this year he noticed there was a much larger crowd supporting the competitors. Many half marathon runners commented that the event was well organised and everyone agreed that it just gets better every year.

The top three finishers in the men’s marathon were all visitors once again, with Phillip Biwot from Kenya in first place, Yousef El Kalay from Morrocco in second and Krysztof Przybyla from Poland third. The ladies’ event was won by Elena Kozhevnikova from Russia, second was Fatima Silva of Portugal and Janina Malska from Poland took third. The winners told The Resident they would be back to defend their titles next year.
