The Good Time Jazz Band is welcoming back two founder members – tuba player Ed Machado, from Canada, and leading Irish jazz cornet player Freddie Baker. Both will play with the band on Friday April 16 at Mariners Bar in Portimão. These two outstanding musicians were part of the Good Time Jazz Band when it successfully represented Portugal at the Cape Verde International Jazz Festival and the Andalusia Jazz Festival in Spain last year.
The band has just received news that it has been invited to play a concert in Paderne in May. This will be sponsored by LogicWare, formally Inatel, the Brazilian based National Institute of Telecommunications, the worldwide leading provider of software for the telecom industry. As well as sponsoring music and dance schools within Portugal, Logicware sponsors music concerts throughout the country and, in association with Filarmonica de Faro, specifically asked for the Algarve based jazz band. The date for the concert is to be confirmed.
