Good news over gas bottles prices

The first day of talks with the troika brought one good piece of news: Portugal’s exorbitant gas bottle prices may finally be brought in line with far cheaper prices in neighbouring Spain.
Reporting on the news, Correio da Manhã writes that a report by the energy department stresses the “necessity” to introduce a price that does away with the discrepancies, both within Portugal and across the border.
A 13kg bottle of gas in Portugal costs on average 27 euros – while a hop across the border to Spain sees prices tumble by more than 10 euros to a maximum of 16 euros per bottle.
The report by the Direção Geral de Energia also shows that while prices for both propane and butane gas have fallen by at least 25% over the last three months, these decreases have “not been reflected in Portugal”. Prices have remained the same.
