Good gut health has once more been hailed as something we should all be focused on retaining. This time because it determines the difference between weathering Covid infection well or otherwise. At least this is the conclusion of a new study coming out of NOVA Medical School (attached to the New University of Lisbon). Investigators found that SARS-CoV-2 infection is “more severe in people with the least diversity of intestinal bacteria”. Put in layman’s terms, people who eat poorly, sleep badly, and do not exercise enough are much more likely to have poor gut health and consequently suffer greater consequences if infected with the new coronavirus.
