A cheque for more than 2,000 Euros was presented to Alison Blair of Madrugada, a charity which supports people with life limiting illness, by Kate Fitzsimmons following The Resident Group Charity Texas Scramble tournament.
The fully subscribed tournament, which took place on September 8 at Morgada Golf near Portimão, was deemed a great success by the organisers, who hope to make this an annual event.
Alison Blair told the Algarve Resident: “We were more than delighted with the funds that were raised during the tournament and would love to be able to repeat the event next year as we are now working towards an annual events calendar for the charity.”
Kate Fitzsimmons said: “The day was a fantastic success thanks to all the participants and our sponsors, especially AZGolf, who helped with the running of the golf side of things. We look forward to further initiatives with Madrugada in the future.”
Those looking to support the charity this festive season will be able to speak with volunteers and make donations during upcoming Christmas fairs across the Algarve.
Madrugada will be at the Spirit of Christmas fair on December 1 in Portimão and on December 8 at Vila Sol, while the charity will also be at the Luxury Christmas Market in Vale do Lobo on December 5.
