Golf Tip – Wedge play

By EDDIE CHARNOCK

After your next round, analyse it, and whenever you have had a wedge in your hand give yourself an up and down, and see what your score for 18 holes would be compared to your actual score – i.e. Par 4 drive, you have a wedge second shot, score 3 for that hole.

This will clearly show you the importance of wedge play. Top players will get down in two, 75 per cent of the time when they have a wedge in their hand.

The higher-handicap golfers, are often exactly that because they will take three or more within wedge distance of the green.

Take a lesson on the short game and practise like hell!
