Golf raises money for cystic fibrosis charity

Nearly 100 players took part in a summer two-ball, better-ball Stableford competition in aid of the UK-based Cystic Fibrosis Trust at Pinheiros Altos Golf Course on Saturday, July 18.

The event was organised by Algarve resident Mark Adamson, who will also run in the New York Marathon on November 1 in aid of the charity.

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 70,000 children and adults worldwide.

Pinheiros Altos Golf Director Brian Evans and Chris Whitfield were the winners with a score of 50 points after shooting 65 and 69 respectively off +2 and 5 handicaps.

The event raised more than 3,200 euros on the day and Mark Adamson is hoping to raise more in November.

Organisers would like to thank sponsors Quintasales real estate, Million Dollar Hole in One, Grego Catering, Enquinta Property Management, Champagne Cruises, Al Sakia Tiramisu, Florida Golf, Augusta Golfe, Acegolf for the scoreboard and Pinheiros Altos Golf Club for hosting the event.
