Children benefit from charity day

BOAVISTA’S 2005 Charity Day is to be held on Saturday, September 10.

This year, Boavista members have chosen two children’s charities, the Lagos Orphanage and the Pirilampos Orphanage in Albufeira, to benefit from their efforts.

Steve Dodds, the club captain, said: “We haven’t set ourselves a target sum, but we are hoping to improve on the figures raised in previous years. As usual, local businesses have been quick to snap up sponsorship opportunities and what we need now is good turn out from the golfing community to support two very worthy causes.”

The competition will be a team AM/AM – two best scores from four to count on each hole – and there will be prizes for the first three teams as well as nearest the pin and straightest drives.

Parent company Quinta da Boavista S.A. has agreed to donate all green fees to the charity as well as half the buggy fees. The Resident was first to offer sponsorship support and other companies, who have taken up sponsorship opportunities, are AIM Removals, Hotel Belavista da Luz, Edilagos, Elite Kitchens, Green Fingers, Jones Homes Portugal, Móveison, the Royal Bank of Scotland and Urbanitecnica.

There will be a buffet with wine, beer and soft drinks, and entertainment will be provided by Morgan G.

Steve went on to say: “What we need now is a really good turn out from the golfing community. The entry fee is only 65 euros per person, which includes the buffet and drinks, and non golfers can also support the event by attending the buffet, the price for which is only 25 euros.”

Anyone interested in participating should contact the Boavista golf reception on 282 000 111 or e-mail [email protected] for an application form. If you are unable to make up a team of four, the organisers will create teams from individual participants. Make sure you get your entry in soon – the closing date is September 2.
