Golfers came together on August 21 at the Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura for the final stage of the Golf Algarve Cup and it was the newly formed Southern Golf Association (SGA) that came away as the winners of the competition.
As well as taking the overall victory, members of the SGA also won prizes for the best gross score, best net score, longest drive and nearest the pin in the stableford competition.
Keith Millington, the vice president of SGA, said: “We knew that this first year was going to be enjoyable setting up the new association, but we didn’t think we were going to be blessed with a competition win in our very first year.”
He added: “As an association we are happy to take the credit but of course it goes to the members who make the SGA both such a joy to play with and as you can see, victorious.”
The SGA has moved its headquarters to Urb. Herves in Galé.
