Golden rhythm

Olympic champion Evgeniya Kanaeva was the big star at the weekend’s rhythmic gymnastics World Cup meeting in Portimão.

The Russian stood out amongst the 135 competitors representing 26 countries by taking three of Sunday’s four induvidual events. Her countrywoman Daria Kondakova collected the remaining gold and Italy secured the team title, with Portugal’s Jessica Jardim and Joana Cardoso taking 35th and 36th places overall.
