The sky continues to be the limit for Madeira-born golden boy footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. Third time winner of the ‘world’s best footballer’ title, Ronaldo is spoilt for choice when it comes to marketing opportunities.
The latest plum job to come his way is to become the new face of Portugal Telecom, under ownership of French company Altice.
According to press reports, Ronaldo stands to receive €3 million a year for promoting the brand, in a three-year contract which sees the end of former ‘mascot’ Ricardo Araújo Pereira, the comedian otherwise known for his show Gato Fedorento (stinky cat).
According to Correio da Manhã, the new deal will see Ronaldo paid three times as much as Pereira and his team of comedy side-kicks.
It also suggests that three is certainly one of Ronaldo’s lucky numbers!
The new deal starts in January 2016, and will cover various countries, including France and Israel.
