A night dedicated to the colour white and to “fellowship” to support the Algarve Oncology Association is being held on June 6 at the Faro Municipal Museum from 7.30pm.
The charity event, organised by the Rotary Clubs of Estoi and Olhão and the Alliance Française, will include dinner, a raffle, cultural events, and live performances of traditional music and dance. The objective is to raise funds towards the acquisition of an up-to-date mobile breast screening unit for the Algarve.
Organisers say: “The concept of holding an event such as this is already well known in different international cities but today, for the first time in Portugal, a ‘Dinner in White’ is to be held at the Municipal Museum of Faro, formerly a 16th century convent.
“You will need to bring your own food and drinks from home, so it is up to you to decide how much of a gourmet experience you and your friends will enjoy.”
The dress code for the evening is, of course, white, including clothing, accessories and table decorations.
Long tables (for 10 people) will create the opportunity to meet other guests, and a jury will give a prize to the best-looking table.
Those involved in the organisation are volunteers so that any funds collected will be donated to the Algarve Oncology Association.
Cost to attend the event is €20 per person. Space is limited so tickets should be purchased well in advance.
To do this you can visit the headquarters of the Alliance Française in Faro, Rua de Maio 1.º n.º15, near the port, or email [email protected] or [email protected] to make your reservation.
