Busy Portimão mayoress Isilda Gomes has now got a new responsibility. Not only in charge of one of the country’s most indebted municipalities, she has now been elected to lead the board of Portuguese municipalities with fishing and port activity.
This new job, aligned with the national association of Portuguese municipalities, involves 57 borough councils and as many as two million people. The mayors of Ílhavo and Figueira da Foz are her deputies.
