Starting this week police will be out in force in a new operation designed to catch speeding drivers.
Operation TISPOL will run until Sunday (August 24) and involve 1,300 officers equipped with speed monitoring equipment.
Said a communiqué from the GNR, the plan is to “combat the scourge of traffic offences associated with excess speeding”. Speed traps implemented earlier this year caught just under 81,000 drivers going too fast.
