Globe exhibition

Around 70,000 people have visited the exhibition ‘Encompassing the Globe – Portugal and the World in the XVI and XVII centuries.’

The exhibition, currently at Lisbon’s Museum of Arte Antiga (Old Art), was co-produced by the Smithsonian Institute in Washington and is the most comprehensive exhibition tracing the history and significance of the Portuguese maritime discoverers ever to have been put on.

Inaugurated on July 15, the exhibition closed on Sunday, November 1 falling short of its objective to attract 100,000 visitors.
