RECORD TEMPERATURES for October in Lisbon have been blamed by environmental groups on global warming.
Beaches on the Costa de Estoril and Costa da Caparica were swarming with sun-seekers over the weekend as temperatures hovered around 35 degrees centigrade, temperatures normally associated with July and August.
Hélder Spinola, President of environmental group Quercus, said: “The high temperatures in Lisbon have been made worse by pollution, car fumes, concrete buildings, asphalt and an absence of green spaces.”
