British yachtsman Alex Alley is the latest confirmed entry for the 2011/12 second edition of the Portimão Global Ocean Race.
Now intending to skipper The People’s Boat, the 38-year-old finished third aboard Mowgli earlier this year.
So far the nine definite participants for the renewal in 16 months’ time include veterans Nico Budel and Michel Kleinjans from Holland and Belgium respectively, a first from France’s Fabrice Carpentier, South African Adrian Kuttel and yet to be named reservations from New Zealand and the United States.
