Designer Outlet Algarve in Loulé has unveiled a new space for art exhibitions promoted by Gillian Catto, the founder of renowned Algarve art gallery ArtCatto.
The plan is to regularly exhibit new works at the space, giving shoppers another reason to visit Designer Outlet Algarve.
The exhibition currently features artwork by some of the talented artists who have exhibited at Loulé’s ArtCatto gallery over the years, such as a bronze sculpture by Anneke Bester, an artwork by urban artist Dom Pattinson, the “spontaneous realism” of Voka and an “explosion of colours” by Portuguese artist Pedro Guimarães.
Miguel Paraíso Guerreiro, general manager of Designer Outlet Algarve, says the presence of “one of the most notable art galleries in the country is very special for Designer Outlet Algarve”.
“It allows us to strengthen our commitment to support and promote the best art in the Algarve whilst also enriching our spaces,” he adds.
Gillian Catto moved to the Algarve in 2011, after 30 years of successfully running a respected gallery in London, having inaugurated ArtCatto in the historic centre of Loulé which has since become one of the premier galleries in the Algarve and the country.
Over the years, Gillian Catto has gained a reputation for helping launch the careers of several artists who have gone on to become well-known names, such as Scottish painter Jack Vettriano.
