Getting your kids’ eyes checked, for a straight-A school year!

Many children are unaware that they have visual impairments. Seeing blurred at near or far, for example, is the only reality they know, so they don’t identify it as being a problem.

Frowning, reading with the face too close to the books, watching TV glued to the screen, intolerance to light (photophobia), recurrent headaches or irritated eyes after just a few minutes of study, difficulty in reading or misspelling words when copying a text, are just a few of the signs you need to pay attention to, as they can indicate the need for visual correction. Even the restless or the distracted child in the classroom may not have a disciplinary problem but rather a visual one.

Decreased visual acuity in children is mainly caused by refractive problems, such as myopia (nearsightedness), hypermetropia (farsightedness) and astigmatism, that can be corrected with glasses. Getting school children and preschoolers an eye check-up before the school year starts is thus of the upmost importance, as early detection of problems is crucial for its treatment and to improve the child’s quality of life.

At Optimax, these check-ups are free and done by a team of experts that is available to respond to whichever your kids’ needs are in what their vision is concerned. Stay tuned keep an eye out for their back-to-school promotion around September and October!
