Getting Kitty-ed out

She hails from London and has become one of the most popular fictional cats on the planet.

Now iconic Japanese cartoon character Kitty White is heading for the skies as Taiwanese airline Eva launches three special Kitty-themed planes in an attempt to boost the country’s struggling tourism industry.

The instantly recognisable Hello Kitty motif is daubed across the side of the planes and everything from boarding cards to self-service check-in counters feature the famous brand.

Once on board, travellers can take a cat nap on the plane’s Hello Kitty headrest covers and also choose from a menu inspired by the white bobtail.

There are more than 100 specially designed Hello Kitty items for passengers to enjoy, including tissues, paper cups, utensils, milk bottles, snacks, soap dispensers, hand lotion, meals and ice cream.

Fliers can also purchase limited edition duty-free products, such as Hello Kitty-shaped pasta, from flight attendants wearing Hello Kitty aprons.
