A 36-year-old German tourist is lost in Madeira today, after being swept up by a wave in the parish of São Jorge, in the borough of Santana. So far details explaining the incident are scarce. All that is clear is that the German man ‘disappeared’ at around 3pm today, according to the captain of Funchal port authority. Searches by helicopter and using drones took place until nightfall.
