German teen breaks leg after trying to climb cliff at Carvoeiro’s Algar Seco

A German teenager was rescued yesterday afternoon after falling and breaking his leg while trying to climb a cliff at Carvoeiro’s Algar Seco beauty spot.

Authorities were alerted just after 6pm. A team from Ferragudo’s lifeboat station was dispatched to the scene to rescue the 17-year-old with the help of maritime police, Lagoa firefighters and INEM medical emergency services.

The youngster, who was in “stable condition and conscious”, was taken to Portimão Hospital by Lagoa firefighters, said the national maritime authority (AMN) in a statement.
