Gentle therapy proven to help knee and ankle pain

Portugal based complementary practitioner, Lindsey Hanson cert. ECBS, MBTER will shortly be giving sufferers from knee or ankle pain a special chance to try out a natural therapy that has shown remarkable success in treating all kinds of joint and muscle problems.

The therapy is the Bowen Technique and throughout June, Lindsey will be taking part in an international study project designed to show how Bowen can help those who are affected by knee and ankle problems, which are a common cause of lack of mobility and, in many cases, time off work.

The study is the latest to be organised by the Bowen Therapists’ European Register, the principal registering body for Bowen practitioners.

For the latest study, Lindsey, who holds clinics in Burgau, Portimão, Almancil and Albufeira, is offering special rates to local people with knee or ankle problems who sign up for a total of three treatments. As well as experiencing the benefits of the therapy, participants will be invited to contribute to the international survey by helping to record the effects of their treatment.

“Every time we organise an international study, the results show just how effective Bowen can be, even after a course of only three treatments,” said Lindsey.

How it works

Bowen is a drug-free, non-invasive complementary therapy. The therapist, using only thumbs and fingers, makes subtle but dynamic rolling movements over muscles and tendons at precise points. The process sends impulses to the brain to trigger the body’s own healing systems.

The therapy has a very broad spectrum of application, including asthma, hay fever, frozen shoulder, whiplash, migraine, back pain, sports injuries, IBS, fertility matters and a host of other health issues.  It is suitable for all ages, from tiny babies with colic to more mature clients who suffer from arthritis.
