STARTING THIS Saturday (April 1) and continuing until April 9, Tavira presents the third edition of the Festival de Gastronomia Serrana, (festival of mountain gastronomy), involving various restaurants from the borough.
Those establishments participating this year include Cantinho da Serra (Bemparece), Herdade da Corte (Sitio da Corte), O Constantino (Sítio Montes and Lagares), Monte Velho (Umbria), A Charrua (Cachopo), Portas da Serra (Estorninhos) and Bela Vista (Picota).
Over the next few days, lovers of Algarvean food can taste some of the very best traditional dishes. Begin your meal with fresh cheese or home-cured ham, enjoy a wonderful lamb stew for main course, and end your dining experience with a dessert such as almond tart. After coffee, a traditional medronho from the mountains will be served.
During the festival, visitors will also have the chance of winning a weekend in one of the following hotels: Vila Campina (Luz de Tavira), Pequeno Castelo (Santo Estêvão) and Quinta da Fonte do Bispo (Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo).
The event is being organised by Tavira council, in collaboration with the Parish Councils of Cachopo, Conceição de Tavira, Santa Maria and Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo.
