GAS PRICES in Portugal are among the highest in Europe and some cities pay four times more than other locations.
On average north of Lisbon, one cubic metre costs 15 cents, while north of Porto, the tariff is 60 cents. In Porto, one cubic metre costs 57 cents, while in Lisbon, the amount is slightly lower at 55 cents. The figures are contained in a new study released by Erse, the public entity that regulates the sector.
Tarrifs are due to be altered so that they are more consistent and uniform across the country in 2008.
