Cheque || ‘Arabian Nights’, a charity summer garden party held in July, was described as a success by organisers, raising €5,000 for the Faro oncology unit.
The cheque was presented to Dr Santos Pereira, president of the unit, who expressed his gratitude to all who had made this possible.
He added a special thanks to the foreign residents who make an effort to contribute to the local community and to those less fortunate than themselves.
The money will go towards the financing of building accommodation for patients and their families, who have to travel to Faro to receive treatment.
Providing the entertainment at the event was the Angels Theatre Group, who “entertain for charity”. Since their inauguration in 2008, they have raised over €45,000 benefiting various charities and community services in the Algarve.
