IF YOU were thinking of Buckingham, you were wrong – this was a Garden Party at the Palácio de Porto Covo da Bandeira in Lapa, Lisbon, at the prestigious home of Lusitania Companhia de Seguros.
The former British Embassy is now a fine historical building and, once again, was the ideal setting for the joint Lusitania and British Council-sponsored barbecue for the members of the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (BPCC) and the Royal British Club (RBC).
With the summer season upon us, this was a chance to get members in the mood for the many barbecues that will follow throughout the summer months. The BPCC had promised to make this “the outdoor event of the year” and that it was, with a good turnout of members and guests, who were well entertained musically and fed by Aldeia Catering. With around 50 sponsors, it is impossible to name them all, but great thanks go to all the companies who supported the BPCC event.
As in the past, this was a great opportunity to renew acquaintances and to network among other likeminded business people. An excellent night was had by all and many delighted members and guests left with more than they arrived with once the grand tombola was drawn. Hopefully, we will see Tony Allen of Lusitania, usually the Master of Ceremonies, well again and able to join us in next year’s event! Bob Hughes
