A 42-year-old man from the Ivory Coast is in Portimão hospital after being brutally attacked on Praia da Rocha boardwalk on Easter Sunday (April 16).
According to national tabloid Correio da Manhã, the man was attacked by a large gang which used a weapon, “probably a knife”, to deal several blows to his head, back and legs.
The attack happened at around 7am. The victim was still conscious when emergency services arrived.
The victim claims he did not know the group who attacked him near Três Castelos viewpoint, says CM.
Although “Praia da Rocha is full of tourists and there are restaurants nearby, there were no witnesses as it was still early in the morning,” the tabloid adds.
Maritime police are investigating.
