A 23-year-old futsal player died of cardiac arrest after a match in Ribamar, in the Lourinhã municipality, on January 5.
The youngster, who played for the Académico Clube de Ciências team, is said to have fallen to the ground, showing no signs of life.
Paramedics performed CPR on the player on their way to hospital but attempts to revive him failed.
Nuno Lobo from the Lisbon Football Association said the day had been doubly sad with the loss of the young player and football legend Eusébio.
