Funds raised for victim support association APAV

Rotary Clubs and Alliance Française hand over cheques worth over €6,700

Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) welcomed Teresa Santos from victim support association APAV, Albufeira branch, to their meeting at Estoi Palace Pousada on April 19.

Teresa gave a presentation explaining their work. Primarily, they assist victims of domestic violence and help them to get their lives back on track with assistance for up to six months for them to find accommodation, a job and so on. They also support victims of other crimes. The association was founded in 1990 and has gone from strength to strength with offices and refuges nationwide.

RC Estoi Palace and the Rotary Club of Faro held a gala dinner to raise funds for the association in March. Past President Christine Fay presented Teresa with a cheque for €6,216.

Anabela Schwarz, the Vice President to the Alliance Française, an association promoting French culture abroad, also presented Teresa with a cheque for €500 as a donation to support APAV.
