More than 100 guests attended a fundraising evening at Quinta Fonte do Bispo in Tavira on August 16 and helped raise over €2,600 for São Brás Bombeiros.
Local businesses gave full support to Evie Elliott and her team of helpers who served an excellent meal and provided a varied programme of entertainment including fado singer Liliana Mendes, Teds Rock Band and solo artist Amy Winescouse. A raffle and auction helped to swell the coffers.
Commander Salvador Gonçalves and firefighter Alex Moreira of São Brás Bombeiros personally thanked the community and all those present for their continued support.
“We have suffered the worst fires Portugal has ever seen and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your endeavours on our behalf,” said Commander Salvador Gonçalves.
