A charity fair aimed at raising funds to enable the Alcoutim voluntary fire brigade to purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED) is taking place on March 28 and April 4 at the local schools of Alcoutim and Martim Longo respectively.
The initiative has been prompted by the need to equip one of the fire department’s ambulances with the defibrillator which “could save many lives”. But the fire brigade does not have the financial means to purchase the equipment.
Thus the Alcoutim school group, supported by the municipal authority, has stepped in and decided to organise the fairs, where a variety of products donated by students and their parents can be purchased.
Funds raised will be handed over to the fire department.
The fair is open from 9am to 12.30pm.
