It is time for yet another ‘Cãominhada’ – the convivial dog walk that is becoming a trademark event in the Algarve – this time organised by animal protection association CIAA (Combate à Indiferença e Abandono Animal) in Faro.
The walk will kick off at 11.30am on Sunday morning (April 6) in the area of Vale das Almas in Ludo, with the goal of raising enough money to purchase food for dogs and cats rescued from abuse, negligence and abandonment. Some of the animals need special expensive food because of their problems and history, says CIAA.
Given the association’s financial limitations (it works with only 17 volunteers and has no shelter), a symbolic price of €2 will be charged for the event.
CIAA is inviting everyone to take part. Even non-dog owners are welcome as the association has plenty of animals that would appreciate the chance of a walk and some extra attention.
