From the outset, Forum Algarve has defined itself as more than just a shopping centre or a shopping destination and, this year, their mission has been recognised with two awards for excellence.
At a regional level, Forum received the 2019 Cinco Estrelas Regiões (Five Stars Regions) award, in the “Shopping Centres” category, for having stood out in the Algarve for its high quality and level of satisfaction amongst consumers, contributing discerningly to the promotion of the region.
Internationally, it was the only Portuguese shopping centre to receive an honourable mention for its free transport service in the last edition of the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Solal Marketing Awards, a ceremony that recognises and rewards the best marketing projects of the previous year.
Introduced and launched by Forum Algarve in 2018, this free transport service, aimed at tourists visiting the region, facilitates their movement between the shopping centre, downtown Faro and the airport. Thanks to a partnership with public transportation companies EVA, Próximo and CP, it is also possible to buy bus and train tickets (regional and urban) at the Forum, thus complementing the existing offer of real-time flight information, free printing of boarding passes, tech-charging posts and luggage lockers.
Inspired by the architecture of the ancient city of Ossonoba (a pre-Roman town located where Faro lies today and which is believed to have been its birth place), Forum Algarve is a space and a project specially designed for the region. Taking advantage of the Algarve’s characteristic luminosity and celebrating the festive nature of its people who usually like to “live on the street”, the goal is for people to come not only to shop, but also to walk around with their families and meet their friends.
“This is why we work and strive so hard to offer everyone a programme that is as diverse as it is unique,” says centre director Sérgio Santos. “This year we had, among other things, the Forum Play event with YouTubers, which attracted some media attention; the Cartão e Imaginação Ateliers, for the little ones, and Algarve Gym”, he adds. “But the year is not over yet! To close out 2019 in style, we will have the opening of the region’s sole GANT shop, open our giant ice rink and our massive and environmentally conscious Santa Claus Village,” he concludes.
