Vilamoura || A charity golf day to raise money for SOS Algarve Animals will be held in June at the Pestana Vila Sol Golf & Resort Hotel in Vilamoura – and organisers promise fun all the way, with lots of attractions for non-golfers as well.
The event, to be held on Sunday June 22, will involve a lunch, quiz and an auction and players finishing in the top 15 of the golf competition will receive free tickets to the Portugal Golf Masters in October.
Organised by Affinity Global Wealth, the day is designed to raise as much as possible for the charity that has homed nearly 1500 animals since its launch four years ago.
Like most animal rescue charities, SOS Algarve Animals concentrates on sterilisation as the best way of controlling stray animals.
But “this all costs money”, explain organisers. One weekend’s worth of sterilisation initiatives can cost as much as €3,000.
Thus everyone is invited to show their support. The cost per golfer is €70, which includes lunch and drinks, with a special discount for Vila Sol members.
The competition begins at 9am.
