Fun and fireworks for the whole family at Algarve Bonfire Night

Lagoa’s Fatacil events park will be the setting for the first Algarve Bonfire Night, which will take place on November 8 starting at 7pm.
Besides a show-stopping firework display, food, drinks, entertainment and music for all the family, the night is designed to raise money for the town’s fire service.
A joint collaboration between the Algarve Resident and the International School of the Algarve, it is also part of the newspaper’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Vítor Rio, commander of Lagoa’s fire brigade, has praised the initiative saying money raised will help the fire station buy new fire-fighting equipment.
He especially praised the Algarve’s foreign community, saying: “Although it hurts me to say this as a Portuguese citizen, most times it is the foreign communities, especially the British, that organise these kinds of events.”
To support Lagoa firemen and enjoy a fun-filled night, make sure you put the Algarve Bonfire Night on your calendar!
Admission is €5 for adults (over 16s) and €2 for children (under 16s).
Catering and stall opportunities are still available, so contact Alan Shepard (914 952 299) if your business would like to take part.
And if you’re interested in making a direct donation to the fire station, telephone 282 352 393 or email [email protected]
Meanwhile, in Barão de São Miguel, near Vila do Bispo, locals have organised a fundraising event for Halloween Night (October 31) which will include a concert by local band Campo Crusties at Bar Onda.
Organiser David Fish told the Resident that the concert is to thank borough firemen for all their efforts recently putting out a major forest fire.
The event begins at 8.30pm.
