Fugitive wanted by Interpol on Embassy guestlist

A Portuguese businessman wanted by Interpol for suspected gun-running between Spain and Angola is still very much persona-grata, in the Navy at least. His name still appears on guest lists to parties, issued under the auspices of the Portuguese embassy, explains Correio da Manhã, and the last invitation was to an official event on board a naval frigate. No one is saying however whether Guilherme Taveira Pinto turned up.

According to CM, Pinto has been sought by Interpol since 2014. He is also suspected of corruption and money-laundering.

When questioned, a source for the ministry of foreign affairs said Pinto had been “on the list of guests for events” for “several years”.
