Portugal faces yet another increase in fuel prices from next Monday. The new price hikes (roughly 0.02 euros for both petrol and diesel) will take increases over just the last two weeks to seven cents per litre. This is on a par with price increases back in 2012 when Portugal was labouring under the sovereign debt crisis. The rise in fuel costs is affecting economies throughout the world. It comes as another consequence of the pandemic – depressed production before an increase in demand (as countries ‘reopened’ for business).
