Fuel fines

Petrol stations that do not place their prices on the informative panels along Portugal’s motorways are to be notified and fined, according to Alberto Moreno, President of the road infrastructures institute (Inir).

The panels allow drivers to compare fuel prices at the next three petrol stations two kilometres before the nearest one.

The law stipulates that the panels should all have been put up by November 2008, but according to Inir, 44 information panels were still missing by the end of June.

Fines range from 2,500 to 30,000 euros.
