BUILDING A house is something most people will do only once, so it should be perfect … anything less so just won’t do. Architecture, projects and management company Orangesky take this very seriously and understand that every step is, potentially, a once in a lifetime decision.
Orangesky’s founder, Dutch architect Edwin Opstelten, saw there was a gap in the market for a company that takes full responsibility from the initial design right through to handing over the finished property to the client. “I know that we are very unique,” he says.
The company, created in 2002, has gone from strength to strength. “We are now so busy that we have to find extra people to do the work!” says Edwin. The Orangesky team currently consists of two more architects, Celso Reis and Carlos Diniz, project manager José Cruz, secretary Isabel Morelli and a number of external engineers and architects that are also frequently onboard.
Stretching the length of the Algarve, Orangesky’s projects include homes, offices, hotels, extensions, developments and legalisation jobs and each member of staff knows exactly at what stage each project is at. “Each project begins at the design stage where we spend many hours with the client to find out their exact needs and requirements. We then go through each specification, making detailed working drawings along the way,” says Edwin.
Once everything has been approved and construction has begun, Orangesky takes photographs of the construction at different stages and posts them on their website so that clients can log on to their personal area to check on progress.
Edwin, along with Wout van den Bedem, is also a Managing Director of Villas and Quintas, a development company offering exclusive quality villas.
