ST. PATRICK’S Day was once again celebrated in style on March 18 as 160 people gathered in the Marriott Hotel, Lisbon, for the fourth Gala Dinner organised by the Irish Portuguese Friendship Society.
Guests were treated to wonderful entertainment throughout the evening commencing with the beautiful music of Irish harpist, Teresa O’Donnell, who played during the reception. After dinner, the Celtic Rhythm Dancers delighted the audience with a stunning display of Irish dancing.
Along with glasses of Guinness, guests enjoyed traditional Irish dishes including delicious Irish beef donated by Bord Bia. Dinner was followed by lively dancing to the reels and jigs performed by live band, Melting Pot.
Great prizes were presented, thanks to the generosity of sponsors Aer Lingus, Hotel Avenida Palace, Irish Farmhouse Holidays, the Lisbon Marriot, Penha Longa Golf Club, Redoptica and Tourism Ireland.
The Society was extremely pleased that the event has become a popular fixture in the calendars of both the Irish and the friends of Ireland in Portugal and wishes to thank the sponsors for their generosity, with particular mention to the Irish Embassy, Grafton Recruitment, Jameson, Unibetão and Vodafone.
