The International Friends Club celebrated Christmas together at the Hotel Algarve Casino, in Praia da Rocha, on December 19.
Eileen England, founder of the club, told the Algarve Resident: “Everyone enjoyed the evening and brought a little gift so that there was a surprise for each member present.”
She added that it was agreed that the credit crunch would not dampen members’ enthusiasm for getting together on a regular basis.
The club is now in its sixth year and has proved that there is certainly a need for such a group.
“People learn much from each other about making a new life here in the Algarve and many friendships have been formed. Some members have formed their own little groups in their own areas as a result of making contact through the If Club and it is hoped that we can continue to provide such a service,” said Eileen.
