Liza Walker and Rick Bryant decided to set up the Fat Pig Hog Roasting Company to enable them to combine their love of good food and catering with party organising.
“Our concept is basically a simple one, allowing people to relax and enjoy their party or get together without the stress of preparing food,” said Liza.
The couple, who met two years ago, are dedicated to providing a professional buffet service and cook whole pigs, chickens, or suckling pigs on site. They also supply and set up tables, crockery and cutlery, thereby providing a full catering service for any event and ensuring a fun, informal way for the guests to enjoy the occasion.
“Should the weather be unsuitable, a possibility even in the Algarve, the roasting machine can easily be moved indoors to continue cooking,” said Rick. “Our Fat Pig Machine is a gas hog roasting oven with an electric motor to drive the spit roast or chicken spit, it is neat, clean and efficient and is suitable for just about any location.”
The equipment is fully mobile and really is a fantastic and different way to cook for any party or social gathering. “We recently cooked a 60kg pig for an event in Lagos Marina on Saint Patricks Night, and it disappeared within an hour!” said Liza. “There is something wonderfully delicious about the smell of fresh roasts and the sound of crackling!”
