Lagoa || In a new bid to stop people from dumping garden waste and other types of oversized household waste near bins “or anywhere they like”, Lagoa municipality has announced free disposal in the town’s Cerca da Lapa municipal dump, near Fatacil, until the end of the year.
While before a fee would be charged now residents just need to take their waste to the municipal dump and contribute to “good recycling habits”. The measure will be reviewed next year.
Cerca da Lapa takes in all kinds of oversized waste, such as garden waste, white goods, such as fridges and freezers, computers, rubble and construction materials– “basically, anything that won’t fit into normal bins”.
