It has been such a successful measure that Lagoa council has decided to continue allowing free solid waste disposal at the town’s Cerca da Lapa municipal dump, near Fatacil.
According to data, the quantity of waste increased a whopping 345% between June 2 – the day the disposal charges were suspended – and December 31, 2014, thus freeing the environment of damaging fly-tipping.
